LINCOLN KNIGHTS TRAIL

Children's book illustration for Lincoln Big
Illustration // Graphic Design
Aim: Illustrate and create a children’s book to be given as a prize upon completion of the Lincoln Knights Trail

Solution: A short story to detail the events that happened was written by author Erik Grigg. In addition, illustrations were drawn to compliment the story and set in a small Ladybird style book by LND.

The audience for the book was children of primary school age and upwards, so the style of illustration and character designs were drawn with this in mind.  Illustrations gave a fun approach to some quite serious scenes, such as the aftermath of the battle and the death of King John.

The styling of the book itself was designed to reflect the diary entries of the main character, using various paper textures for each letter.

The Lincoln KnightsTrail project was completed with the dedicated staff at Lincoln BIG. Most importantly, the project raised nearly £180,000 for charity and arts in the city of Lincoln.

“It was great working with Laura on the Lincoln Knights sculpture trail, she brought a real enthusiasm and creativity to the project and was a key member of the team that made the project such a success in Lincoln.”
